Vesper
"Bartender, a Dry Martini. Wait...three measures of Gordon's, one of Vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it over ice, and add a thin slice of lemon peel." Casino Royale, Ian Fleming 1953. Inspired by this time-honoured recipe, we have worked with Alessandro Palazzi, Head Bartender at Dukes, SW1, of which Ian Fleming was a regular, to develop our English Amber Vermouth, replacing the no-longer-produced Kina Lillet. To consolidate our experimentation, we acquired three bottles of Kina Lillet, and as such Sacred English Amber Vermouth is now recognised as the closest equivalent to that long-lost ingredient, and is used in every Vesper at Dukes Bar to this day. In tribute to that partnership, we make our Dukes Vespers as below.
Method
Take a chilled martini glass and add a shot of Sacred English Amber Vermouth, a shot of Sacred Organic Vodka (although London Dry Vodka also works well), and three shots of Sacred Gin (or Sacred Organic Gin for more juniper). The spirits should come straight from the freezer. Garnish with a large orange zest, twisted over the glass to release the oils.
